Dana Popa – Not Natascha

March 26, 2010

I just looked again at the work of Dana Popa “Not Natasha”. “The project began in 2006 when Popa first travelled to the Republic of Moldova to document, through photography and collected stories, the experiences of sex-trafficked women and their families. ‘Natasha’ is the nickname given to prostitutes with Eastern European looks. Sex trafficked girls hate it.”

The project is very touching especially as book . I don’t just find her composition inspiring but also the way Popa combines portraits and close up shots of the surrounding to tell stories.
